Largo dei Librari

DAR FILETTARO A SANTA BARBARA
Largo dei Librari, 88

Near Campo de' Fiori
Open evenings after 6pm, closed on sundays.

Go there for truly "Vecchia Roma" atmosphere and the famous Roman version of deep fried filet of fish, "Filetti di Baccalà". Don't miss the tart puntarelle salad with anchovy vinaigrette during late winter and spring, in the sommertime taste the "bruschetta al pomodoro", a slice of toasted casareccio, - country bread -, rubbed with garlic and fresh tomato. Not much else on the menue there, but what a treat!

Try to visit the little church in the Piazza, Santa Barbara dei Librai (open a few hours during daylight). Note how apartments intrude left and right, a true intertwining of the holy and the mundane.

I love the atmosphere of that little piazzetta at night, it is always a delight to watch the scene from the cafe' right there on Via de' Giubbonari or while eating a pizza a taglio from that place around the corner (con patate, per favore!).

this is absolutely a place to go to!
the real charme of caput mundi is in such small squares, lil' streets, the warm flavour of fried codfish.

Waiting for Spring to join again

Oh sigh... And now I have come here also.

Such beautiful photos! As in your other blogs, of course.

Oh I would love to experience such an eating place.
